Peer Review Process
Scholaria International Journal of Research follows a structured and impartial peer review process to evaluate the originality, academic quality, relevance, and integrity of submitted manuscripts. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment before being considered for external peer review.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial team examines each manuscript for relevance to the journal's aims and scope, compliance with submission guidelines, completeness, and basic scholarly quality. Similarity screening may be conducted using appropriate plagiarism-detection tools, such as Turnitin, where available. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be declined without external review.
2. Reviewer Selection
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are considered for evaluation by at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are selected according to their academic knowledge and ability to assess the manuscript objectively. Potential conflicts of interest are considered during reviewer selection.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
The journal follows a double-blind peer review model, under which authors and reviewers do not know one another's identities during the review process. Authors should remove identifying information from manuscripts prepared for anonymous review.
Reviewers assess manuscripts based on originality, significance, research methodology, quality of analysis, interpretation of results, references, clarity of presentation, and contribution to the relevant field.
4. Review Timeline
Reviewers are requested to provide their reports within approximately three weeks of accepting the review invitation. This is an expected timeframe rather than a guaranteed deadline. The actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the need for additional evaluation.
5. Editorial Decisions
After considering the reviewer reports and the editorial assessment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:
- Accept: The manuscript is suitable for publication without substantial further changes.
- Minor Revision: Limited corrections or clarifications are required.
- Major Revision: Substantial changes are required before the manuscript can be reconsidered.
- Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's publication requirements or standards.
The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editorial representative. Reviewer recommendations inform the decision but do not independently determine the publication outcome.
6. Revision and Re-evaluation
When revisions are requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript and a point-by-point response explaining how the comments from reviewers and editors have been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation. Acceptance depends on satisfactory resolution of the concerns raised during review.
7. Confidentiality and Ethical Conduct
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers and editors must not disclose unpublished information or use it for personal advantage. Participants in the review process are expected to act objectively, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and follow the journal's publication ethics policies.
Concerns involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, authorship disputes, or other research-integrity issues will be handled in accordance with the journal's applicable policies.
8. Proofreading and Publication
Following acceptance, manuscripts proceed to the applicable production stages, which may include copyediting, proofreading, and final formatting. Authors may be asked to verify proofs before publication.
9. Appeals and Complaints
Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision should submit a written request to the editorial office, explaining the grounds for the appeal and providing supporting information. Where practicable, the appeal will be considered by an appropriate editorial representative who was not directly responsible for the original decision.
Complaints concerning the peer review process will be handled fairly and confidentially in accordance with the journal's complaints and publication ethics policies.
